Birthday boy and Green Day bass player, Taurus, Mike Dirnt, who is 43 today, earned his rather odd surname because of a habit he had as a youngster of playing the air-guitar whilst making ‘drint, drint’ sounds. Eventually he moved on to the real instrument but the nickname stuck.
